MAX is One of the Best Places to Improve Your Technical Flex Skills

Monday, November 17th, 2008

I’ll just give you one example. Last week my colleague and I were running a private Flex workshop for software architects of a large corporation who are about to start development with Flex. Needless to say that they are smart and experienced software professionals. Some of them already started working with Flex. While explaining various types of library linking in Flex, I said that if you don’t mention a class in the application, it won’t be included into the compiled SWF. One of the attendees responded, “It took me six hours to figure it out by myself”. He said it all.

Evidence of this trend can be heard in hallways and lunch rooms as security and administrative teams compare notes.

First, it refers to Web applications that encourage social interaction or collective contribution for a common good. Second, it refers to Web programming techniques that lead to a rich and user-friendly interface. These techniques sometimes go by the name Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), though many implementations don’t use XML at all.

Speaking At php|works In Atlanta

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Next week, I’ll be speaking at php|works and PyWorks in Atlanta on Representational State Transfer (REST). My talk is in the general track this time, so it’s good for both the PHP and Python audiences who will be attending the conference.

php|works 2008: Explore the Possibilities

I’ve already invited the Atlanta PHP community, and if you’ll be in the Atlanta area, you should come, too. I can’t say it enough: the price of this conference compared to the value you receive from the talks and networking is a steal! In addition, if you sign up for the tutorials, you get a free training course at php|architect. You really can’t get a better deal at any other conference. I guarantee you’ll be glad you attended.
